Do you want to know the best way to show your pride in the University of Arkansas and support for both current and future Razorbacks?  It’s easy – become a member of the Arkansas Alumni Association!  You may think you have to be a graduate to join, but you couldn’t be further from the truth.  All you have to have is a love for the university and a willingness to support all its efforts!   We welcome alums, friends of the university, as well as parents of students – anyone is welcome to join!  Being an alumni member is a way to showcase your pride and to help the University grow and receive the recognition it deserves.  Plus, if you live in or around the Dallas area, by becoming an alumni member, you automatically become a member of the Dallas Chapter of the Arkansas Alumni Association!

The most common question our alums receive is why should I join or maintain my membership? Here are the TOP 10 reasons to join as well as a few VIPerks you receive as an alumni member.

1. Show your Pride and Support Students
Membership is THE most affordable way to show pride for the Razorbacks and the University of Arkansas. By supporting the Alumni Association through membership, you are supporting the programs offered by us that promote the University. When you become a member, you pay it forward. THANKS to our members, the Arkansas Alumni Association has awarded more than 100 Membership Scholarships nationally and plans to grow that number each spring.  For its part, the Dallas AAA gives out eight scholarships a year to Dallas-area students attending the University of Arkansas.
2. It’s Less than 12 Cents a Day
Yes, it’s that cheap. One annual membership costs just $45 a year – or .1232876 cents a day. Take advantage of Membership VIPerks and we promise this investment will yield returns.
3. Invest in the YOU of A
Did you know that many college rankings are influenced by alumni participation? It’s true. U.S. News & World Report specifically references the engagement level of alumni. That means the higher the U of A is ranked the more valuable a University of Arkansas degree becomes. You may not need it in the future or ever, but chances are, somewhere along the way you or someone you care about will use the influence of their U of A degree to make a connection for recruiting, grad school admission, new employees, students and athletes.
4. Multiply your Membership
Membership dues will automatically activate membership in your local chapter and any alumni group with which you have an affiliation. Your local chapter is a great way to get involved socially and can provide some excellent avenues for professional networking and community service. Other alumni groups will connect you to a group you may have been involved with on campus or those that received the same degree as you.
5. Leaders Welcome
Speaking of alumni groups….want to get involved on a local chapter board or volunteer for your alma mater? You’ve come to the right place! Membership is important in this case because it will keep you connected to any opportunities that may come available, and because any volunteer knows that being a member of the organization you serve is the first step to being a great volunteer! Email dallas@arkansasalumni.org to learn more.
6. Award-winning Connections
As a member, you will receive our quarterly print magazine, ARKANSAS. Our monthly e-newsletter, @Arkansas, is a great way to keep up with membership perks and the events going on in your area. You will literally be plugged in to the Association and all that it has to offer.
7. Arkansas Alumni Career Network
This is the most comprehensive career network offered to University of Arkansas alumni. Through our connection with the campus Career Development Center and Razorback CareerLink, we offer a robust network, and as a member, you have full access!

8. Very Important PERKS
You can see the entire list of PERKS at http://www.arkansasalumni.org/perks.

9. Your Dues May be 100% Tax Deductible
Based on Internal Revenue Service guidelines and the value of your membership benefits or services in return, your dues may be tax deductible. Consult your tax advisor.
10. It’s the Right Thing To Do
When you receive your diploma from the University of Arkansas, you are forever a part of this campus. Reasons 1-9 should inspire just about anyone, but if you are a graduate of the University, membership in its Association should go without reason.

Below are just a few perks of being an alumni member (you can view the entire list at http://www.arkansasalumni.org/perks):

  • @Arkansas monthly e-newsletter exclusive for members
  • Alumni Groups – connect to fellow Razorbacks around the globe
  • Arkansas Alumni Shopping at www.arkansasalumnishopping.com and earn up to 40% cash back from over 5,000 retailers
  • ARKANSAS Magazine – exclusive to members and an award-winning quarterly magazine, also available online
  • Razorback CareerLink & Job Board : Access to RCL connecting you to over five million employers
  • Raizin’ Razorbacks Legacy Program: Eligibility to enroll your children or grandchildren for milestone gifts

The Dallas area has a large alumni population and to help connect you to the Dallas Chapter, we will begin an online segment called “I am a Hog.”  Each month, we will profile an area alumni member. You will find that many of our members are just like you — they have a love for the university and wish to stay involved through membership in the association and by volunteering with the local chapter.  The University of Arkansas experience does not have to end with graduation; you can still enjoy the university camaraderie, assist area high school students interested in attending the university and reconnect with others that share your Razorback pride and enthusiasm.

If you would like to get involved please contact us at dallas@arkansasalumni.org, or check out the Dallas Chapter website at dallas.arkansasalumni.org.  You can also follow us on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn for up-to-date news and events. If you have questions on how to become an alumni member or how to renew your membership, please email DallasArkansasAlumniMember@gmail.com.
