razorrock_footballThe Capital Chapter of the Arkansas Alumni Association is excited to announce its participation in the first RazorRock, Central Arkansas’ week-long Razorback football rally to kick-off the 2009 season. Coach Petrino’s Hogs will play their season opener on Sept. 5 against Missouri State University at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.

Skip Rutherford BA’72, dean of the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service, will be the guest speaker during the chapter’s Alumni Networking Reception Tuesday, Sept. 1 in Sturgis Hall at the Clinton School.

The Capital Chapter also will host an Alumni Networking Luncheon on Thursday, Sept. 3 with Dr. Fitz Hill, president of Arkansas Baptist College and former Razorbacks assistant coach.

On the eve of the football game, alumni are invited to meet up with other Razorbacks during the Pre-Rally Networking Social on Friday, Sept. 4 at Gusano’s in the Little Rock River Market District.

Be sure to purchase a commemorative RazorRock wristband with proceeds going toward helping Central Arkansas students attend the University of Arkansas. The wristbands cost $5 for Alumni Association members as well as Arkansas students regardless of college and $10 for non-members. In addition to showing your Razorback pride, the wristbands can be worn to receive discounts at participating businesses, including Travelers baseball games throughout RazorRock week. For information on offering discounts at your business, contact Lynann Papan at 501-258-8060 or lynann@razorbackroad.com.

Alumni who want to give back to the University of Arkansas with their time and have some fun are needed to assist with events, promotion and logistics associated with its involvement in RazorRock. If you are interested in volunteering, please e-mail capital@razorbackroad.com with your name and phone number.
