Each year, the Student Alumni Association helps to organize events taking place the week of Homecoming and this year is no different. To continue in the spirit of Homecoming, there will be various events taking place the day before the big game against Vanderbilt, including a lawn decorating contest, parade and pep rally.
This year, UATV will be streaming Homecoming activities live for everyone around the world to enjoy from the comfort of their home or office. If you are unable to make it back to campus for the festivities we encouraged you to watch it online. UATV will kick off the live streaming on Friday, October 29th at 7:00 p.m. Central with the 2010 Homecoming Parade and plan to include a show to catch you up on all the Homecoming activities.
For those that can come back to campus student organizations will display their decorative lawns on Friday, October 29, along Maple Street. A committee of alumni judges will observe and judge each lawn at 5:30 p.m. The student organizations are encouraged to leave their decorations up through Saturday, so members of the community can see the different lawn creations. Immediately following the lawn decoration contest, students, alumni and residents are invited to watch the annual Homecoming parade on Dickson Street at 7:00 p.m. in person or online.
As a way to celebrate this year’s theme, “The Call Heard ‘Round the World,” students, alumni and members of the community are encouraged to come out and join the festivities, all while supporting their various organizations and most of all, the University of Arkansas.
Following the parade along Dickson Street, residents can make their way to the Greek Theatre where the Arkansas Booster Club will hold the annual Homecoming Pep Rally. This year’s Homecoming Queen will be announced during the rally.
Winners of the lawn decoration contest and parade will be announced throughout the game on Saturday.
