My first week on campus was not a normal week. I participated in PanHellenic recruitment at the university, so I moved in on August 15th. The first week in the dorms consisted of girls scrambling to get ready for the 6:50 a.m. morning meeting. Then, coming back to the dorms at eight that night, and wanting to go to bed right after walking in the door. Although those eight days seemed like they would never end, the finish line was definitely worth it. On bid day, I became a Kappa Kappa Gamma. So far, this has been one of the best experiences of my life. I have met so many great girls, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me as a Kappa.
First day of class finally rolled around, but I felt as if I had already been here for a month. I loved being able to meet so many people. You have seen the same people for the past four years and now you are meeting new people that may end up to be your future husband or best friend. Also, I love having so much more free time than when I was in high school. Being able to wake up at nine and get two hours of homework in before going to my first class is awesome!
What I was not expecting is how exhausted I would be getting from class to class. The hills will make the fittest person think they are not in shape. However, my calf muscles are getting very strong because of it. I truly believed that I would be so overwhelmed with sorority stuff and school work that I would be failing before the week ended. However, as long as you stay on top of your school work, and do a little each night, you will not be overloaded with anything. Now I just can’t wait for the first home football game! It will be a great experience to go to your first game as a college student.
