The Student Alumni Board recently held the official information session for Homecoming 2009. At the meeting Megan Lomax, the 2009 Homecoming Chairperson, and the Homecoming committee revealed the theme, logo and pairings, something that many have been waiting for all semester. Playing off the 100th anniversary of the Razorback, the 2009 theme for Homecoming is “A Red & White Affair: Celebrating 100 Years of Razorback Pride.”
Delegates from all over campus attended, representing Greek chapters, registered student organizations and residence halls. Each received a Homecoming packet of information, which includes the schedule of events, points list, rules and explanations for each event, as well as the registration and design forms for all competitions. Speakers included AJ and Penny Bellard, who explained all rules regarding the Homecoming parade; Alicia Stoll of Intramural & Recreation Sports, who discussed the Pigskin Classic; Sandy Goodwin, representing the American Red Cross and the Homecoming Blood Drive; and Carter Ford, who announced the Up Til’ Dawn Movie Night. Finally, Alexis Hurdle, assistant director of Greek Life, was present to announce the pairings for all Greek chapters. Senior Rachel Hope, president of Pi Beta Phi sorority, explained, “Students look forward to the announcement of Homecoming pairings all semester. We are all excited to hear the groups.” The following pairings were announced:
- Pi Beta Phi, Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI), Alpha Gamma Rho, Phi Iota Alpha
- Chi Omega, Pi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Phi Epsilon
- Delta Delta Delta, Sigma Nu, Kappa Alpha Psi
- Kappa Kappa Gamma, Lambda Chi Alpha, Phi Beta Sigma

- Kappa Delta, Sigma Chi, Zeta Phi Beta
- Alpha Omicron Pi, Kappa Sigma, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Alpha Phi Alpha
- Alpha Delta Pi, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Farmhouse, Delta Sigma Theta

Any plans to sell tshirts with the Homecomming logo? If so where and how much?
Currently, we partner with the Red Cross to produce the “official” Homecoming T-shirt each year, which is distributed for free to blood donors at our Annual Homecoming Blood Drive. The Red Cross pays for 100% of the production cost of the shirts in order to provide them as a perk for our donors each year, so there is currently no plan to sell the shirts through local vendors, etc. Thank you for your question!
