After revealing the “Super Hogs” theme for Homecoming 2013, the Student Alumni Board wanted to incorporate and feature hometown heroes alongside our favorite animated and fictional superheroes. In an effort to recognize the firefighters, police officers and military personnel within the Fayetteville and the greater northwest Arkansas community, we will be hosting our Hog for Heroes event on Friday, October 11 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Union Mall.
To tie our “Super Hogs” theme into our campus and community, the Hogs for Heroes event will include stuffing and labeling care packages to send to Arkansas troops deployed in the Horn of Africa. Participants will also be given the opportunity to write thank you notes and personal letters to the soldiers. This event is a great opportunity for students, faculty and community members to get involved and give back to some of our hometown heroes.
