It is a great honor that I write you as the newly elected president for BAS Scholars for this academic year. Three words that come to mind are Passion, Pride and Promise. For any alumni of the University of Arkansas, you know that these three words are at the core of the Arkansas Alumni Association.  These words resonate even more with the Black Alumni Society. I am thankful for the passion that you have for the University of Arkansas. Your PASSION is what fuels the Black Alumni Society.  Your continued giving, volunteering countless hours and being an active member in the Black Alumni Society is what keeps the society active. The PRIDE that you have shown in the University of Arkansas is apparent in your giving and coming back to the reunions. PROMISE is the last tenant that I want to speak of. I want to give a heartfelt thank you to every alumnus that has made the PROMISE to give and fulfills that promise consistently. To our other alumni that have not yet given, I ask that you make a PROMISE to give.  Your PROMISE can be the deciding factor in a student’s ability and decision to continue their education. As BAS scholars we are proudly walking in your shoes. We are committed to having PRIDE in our institution by getting involved with the Arkansas Alumni Association; we show our PASSION for the university by volunteering, and we make this solemn PROMISE to achieve in and out of the classroom. We are thankful for our alumni and the wonderful things you do for the university and the society as a whole.  God Bless You.

With Pride in Arkansas,

Earl Hill
2011-2012 BAS Scholars President
