I chose the U of A because after attending the University of Houston for three semesters studying chemical engineering, I realized too late that engineering was not a good fit for me.  I returned home and enrolled at U of A first as undeclared, then in the College of Business.

My fondest memories include watching basketball games in Barnhill Arena, chatting with a friend who rode the transit bus up the hill with me and studying with two friends between classes every Tuesday and Thursday at the Union.

My favorite tradition is Senior Walk!

An opportunity I received while at the University occurred in my Production Operations class.  We did a group project for a local business, which allowed us to see their operations and interact with managers.  It gave us a taste of business and working that we did not get in other classes that were theory-only based.

I am an Alumni Member because I wanted to meet more people in the Dallas area and felt a desire to connect to other people who love Arkansas as much as I do.

I am involved. I have held two chair positions on the Dallas Chapter Board this past year and one chair position the first year I was involved.  I love working with the high school students through college fairs at the area schools and also through our Head to the Hill event every spring.  Being around their excitement and anticipation at this time of their lives takes me back to when I was first going to college.

I give back because the U of A is a great place and is only getting better every year.  Improving our flagship university is one way to help our home state be recognized nationally in a positive light.

My favorite Alumni event is our Student Send Off, “Head to the Hill,” in the spring because it is so exciting to see all of the high school students about to embark on the biggest adventure of their lives.

My favorite National Alumni event would be the leadership retreat for all of the Texas chapters that was held in June 2012.

My favorite Razorback possession is a Razorback cheerleader doll from when I was a young girl.  We also have a framed piece of slate from the original roof of Old Main (technically it is my husband’s) that was removed when the renovation was done in the 1980s.

Now in Texas, I have spent 24 years in transportation and logistics.  I like that there are many types of jobs in this field (and I have held quite a few of them)!  I have had the opportunity to develop relationships with people and customers by interacting over the phone, in person, and online.  There is also analysis and working with numbers in this field, so it allows me to work with people and numbers for a change of pace.

I encourage people to get involved in the Alumni Association so you can stay connected to the University.
