Here at the New York Chapter, we are pleased to announce the launch of our endowed scholarship program—$25,000 awarded to an Arkansas student from the tri-state area. Its namesake, Gary Wenslow was a dear friend and member of the chapter, who passed away in 2008. We are proud to honor his charitable and caring legacy with this fund.
A Chicago native, Gary was introduced to the Razorbacks through an MBA classmate, Craig Fowlkes of Little Rock. After graduating from the top-ranked business school at the University of Chicago and moving to Manhattan in 2000, Craig invited Gary to an Arkansas football watch party. Gary was hooked. Over the next several years, his love of the Hogs and involvement with the chapter grew. He even listed his membership of the Arkansas Alumni Association on LinkedIn alongside his degrees from the University of Chicago and Northwestern. “Gary was a brilliant man, but also so down-to-earth and humble,” Craig says. “He was incredibly generous with his time and resources and would do anything to help someone out.” It’s this enthusiasm toward higher education and the Razorback community that gives us great pleasure in celebrating Gary’s memory. Please stay tuned for further fundraising details. Scholarship contributions are always welcome and appreciated.
Gary was my best friend at Northwestern University and I miss him all the time!
Gary was one of my best friends. He was the best man at my wedding. Thank you very, very much for setting this up in his name. Possibly, in honor of Gary, you could qualify the recipients by worst pun or joke, knowledge of obscure 70’s and 80’s music and the ability to speak Latin fluently. 😉
Thank you, again. Gary was amazingly giving and this is a wonderful way to honor his memory.
