The Black Alumni Society would like to thank our members, friends and sponsors for stepping up to the scholarship 2011 Reunion Challenge. BAS is proud to announce over $27,000 in scholarships have been distributed to freshmen and upperclassmen for the 2011-2012 academic school year. The following students have received the BAS Endowed Scholarship totaling $10,400: PJ Lambey, senior; Kentrell Curry, junior; Chris Young, sophomore and Andrea Webster, freshman.
The Challenge Scholarships totaled $11,150 and were awarded to upperclassmen: Imani Smith, Nick Glover, Melanie Monts, Chris Young and Earl Hill for academic and continued volunteer support for BAS. Freshmen receiving the Challenge Scholarship are Brandi Galloway, Lillian Gray, Aricka Lewis, Erika Guy, Sha’Tara Hudson, Greg Crosby Jr. and Carrie Spencer.
The T.A., Vivian and Sheila (Moore-Walton) Walton Legacy Scholarship totaled $1,000 and was awarded to Aricka Lewis.
Earl Hill was the awardee of the Kevin Murdock Jr. Memorial Scholarship for $1,000 and the Sammy Perry and Earnestine Jones Scholarship for $2,500.
BAS would like to congratulate all of its scholarship recipients and again, thank all of our donors.
With enrollment at its highest, we still have students that exhibit the need for financial assistance whether it is for books or tuition. Together, we can help them achieve! Remember, every amount helps and no donation is too small.
