During the 2013 fiscal year, alumni and friends of the University of Arkansas proved that membership does matter, marking another successful year for the Arkansas Alumni Association. Making up an estimated 50 percent of the operating budget, membership enables the Association to continue its efforts in connecting and serving alumni and friends of the University of Arkansas through scholarships, events and publications.
“An overall increase in membership by 2.7 percent and steady retention at 88 percent speaks volumes about our alumni and friends and the level of the support they provide for the YOU of A! EVERY membership matters in every aspect of the Association. THANK YOU MEMBERS,” said Carolyn Baltz, associate director of membership and marketing.
Remaining high in the national rankings, the Alumni Association saw a total active retention rate of 88.1 percent, an annual renewal rate of 80 percent and a 3-year renewal rate of 74.5 percent. Apart from the Association’s efforts to maintain membership through renewals, life membership increased 4.5 percent and 3-year membership increased 11.2 percent.
“Membership is a key component to the success of the Arkansas Alumni Association. These numbers prove that membership really does matter, and because of our outstanding members, we are able to continue producing award-winning events and publications, as well as help to fund our need-based scholarships,” said Terri Dover, director of membership and resource development.
