University of Arkansas graduate Shannon Humphrey, a Los Angeles trial attorney, was installed as president-elect of Black Women Lawyers of Los Angeles on September 20th at its annual Installation gala, one of the premier events in the Los Angeles legal community. Elected by her colleagues in June, she will serve in that role for one year and oversee the organization’s programming.
On September 25, 2014, she will be installed as president, setting the agenda and vision for the organization, which will focus on mental health, empowering troubled teen girls and racial profiling. Many presidents of BWLA have gone on to become judges, law firm partners and philanthropists.
