Your support and contributions over the past year to our Dallas Chapter Banquet have helped the Dallas Chapter award scholarships to DFW students attending the University of Arkansas. We are pleased to announce the 2011 freshman class recipients:
Joseph King – South Grand Prairie High School, Grand Prairie, TX
Lauren Boule – Edward S. Marcus High School, Flower Mound, TX
Joseph was an active member of his high school class and will continue his academic and extracurricular involvement at the U of A, majoring in engineering. Lauren participated in many academic and athletic organizations in high school and plans to expand her horizons while at the U of A by majoring in biology and studying abroad in Barcelona before applying for medical school.
In addition to our freshman class, we have awarded scholarships to two juniors:
Anjelica Romero, a nursing major from Dallas, involved in Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and New Student Orientation
Josh Weaver, a financial management and investments/accounting major from Southlake, involved in Phi Delta Theta fraternity and Golden Key Honors Society
This year, we also extended a scholarship to a senior:
Courtney Hayden, an equine science major from Dallas, involved in Alpha Zeta honor fraternity and Gamma Beta Phi, with hopes to apply to both pharmacy and medical schools this year
Each student receives a $1,000 scholarship, which is renewable throughout their college career.
This upcoming year, the Dallas Chapter has chosen to extend two scholarships per class, totaling $8,000 in award money each year for worthy students from the DFW area. We hope you enjoy learning a little more about our scholarship recipients and would like to thank you for your help throughout the year. Without your support, these scholarships would not be possible.
Congratulations again to our recipients!
John Reap – Dallas Chapter President
