The Arkansas Alumni Association strives to provide quality service and therefore we are constantly evaluating our current services and programs as well as looking for new ideas to implement. Our recent evaluation has resulted in the conclusion that our e-mail forwarding service provider, which also provided many other services tied to e-communications, is no longer equipped to fit the needs of our members, alumni and friends.
Our plan is to migrate to a new e-communications tool on January 1, 2012. We are excited about this change because it will enable us to provide better communication to you, and more options for all, with one exception: e-mail forwarding. Therefore, we will discontinue our e-mail forwarding service through razorbackroad.com as of January 1, 2012. If you have an email forwarding account through our razorbackroad.com service it will stop functioning as of the New Year.
Please know, that this was not a decision we took lightly, having researched alternatives and upgrades to a full e-mail account, we could not find an alternative that worked. Unfortunately, the usage of it was very low, and the alternatives were just not adequate.
In order to make sure your family, friends and contacts will be able to reach you please update your preferred (non@razorbackroad.com) email address and mailing address.
We thank you for your loyalty and continued support of the Association through membership! It really does make a difference, and is our life blood here at the Alumni Association.
Wow. u00a0I didn’t see that coming. u00a0I use my razorbackroad.com forwarding email address ALL THE TIME. u00a0I do a lot of mystery shopping and that’s the email address I give out because I don’t have to worry about changing it 50+ times when I change my email address. u00a0Yuck! u00a0:(
OK, so now this morning, I logged into my gmail account and got this message:nnnYour account has changed. u00a0This account has an alternate email address, asasser@razorbackroad.com. This address is no longer available because an organization has reserved this razorbackroad.com email address. You are now signed in with your primary address. Except for the removal of the alternate email address, nothing has changed.nnUm, I didn’t think this was supposed to happen until January 1, 2012. u00a0Help!!!
I’m not exactly sure what is happening here but can assure you we have not expired any accounts yet. We will not expire the accounts until January 1, 2012. nnThis issue could have something to do with how the razorbackroad.com accounts are managed. This may cause some issue and has in the past for others when dealing with Google products/services. This is another reason why we believe the service no longer meets with the quality of service we strive to keep here at the Arkansas Alumni Association.

I am very disappointed by this decision. I think if they can do it for me at Vanderbilt, you all can too. It’s a great way to keep alumni affiliated with the U of A and advertise the U of A through a permanent email address for alumni that never changes. I guess we just spend all our money on sports now…
We understand that this is an inconvenience to our dues paying members. The funding we receive has always gone to our programming and scholarships. If you would like to update your preferred email address please email membership@arkansasalumni.org. This service was a perk of membership, and after long and thoughtful evaluation of the service we felt it was not up to our standard of service.
