Reverend Dr. Eric Montgomery Mackey of Little Rock went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 25, 2009 at Baptist Medical Center after a long medical illness. He was born July 20, 1956 in Marvell, Ark. He graduated from the University of Arkansas and received a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Michigan. Dr. Mackey worked most recently as an adjunct instructor at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He was a member of Pilgrim Valley Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, William Wiley Mackey, and two brothers: Kenneth W. Mackey, M.D., and Harris M. Mackey, M.D. Reverend Dr. Eric Mackey leaves to cherish his loving memory his son, Matthew Ryan Mackey of Atlanta, Ga.; mother, Mary Mackey of Little Rock, Ark.; brothers Bobby Harris of Chicago, Stephen Mackey, M.D. of Little Rock, Ark. and George Mackey (Michelle) of Conway, Ark., and sisters Rose Mackey-Cunningham of Little Rock, Ark., Patricia A. Mackey, Esq. of Little Rock, Ark. and Joyce Mackey Prowell (Stanley) of Fayetteville, Ark.; aunts Constance Brewster (Walter) of Chicago, Ill.; Hazel Mackey of Marvell, Ark.; Barbara Mackey of Wichita, Kan.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Pilgrim Valley Missionary Baptist Church, 1821 Wolfe Street, Little Rock.
