Buying someone’s lunch, volunteering at a local food pantry, organizing a service project, holding a door open for someone… all of these are examples of random acts of kindness. In an effort to honor the University of Arkansas, the Young Alumni Board of the Arkansas Alumni Association, the University of Arkansas Division of Student Affairs and the Razorback Athletics Department are organizing the first Hogs Care Week, February 25-March 2.
The purpose of Hogs Care Week is to encourage students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the University of Arkansas to share their random act of kindness and express appreciation to the U of A. Participants can “Share the Care” by posting a photo of their random act of kindness on the Helping Like a Hog Facebook page, using the hashtag #HogsCare on Twitter or Instagram, posting a video on YouTube or by sending email to hogscare@uark.edu.
In preparation for Hogs Care Week, there will be a community and campus launch party on Wednesday, Feb. 13 from 2-3 p.m. in the Verizon Ballroom in the Arkansas Union. An on-site service project and a short program will provide attendees with information about Hogs Care, all while the Razorback cheer squad and mascots provide U of A spirit.
