It is a privilege to step into a leadership role, and I consider this leadership role as Black Alumni Society president one of service. I hope that you share the same pride in the University of Arkansas that I enjoy as a graduate. The camaraderie that we share is a special one, and I am deeply indebted to those graduates who came before me and to those who felt welcomed to attend after you and me.
The influence of the society lies within its membership. The strength of the membership means that you have a voice for change. If you are a member of the Black Alumni Society, ‘thank you for your continued support.’ I realize that there might be many reasons why you are not a member. I would be naive to think that our years were easy, problem free ones. Indeed, there were many difficult days, but we made it.
I am pleased to offer a limited two-year membership special of $80 for individuals and $90 for joint memberships, if you respond by August 14, 2009. I invite you to take advantage of this special offer now by mailing your membership today payable to Arkansas Alumni Association, Attn: Black Alumni Society, P.O. Box 1070, Fayetteville, Arkansas 72702.
If you are aware of a prospective student interested in attending the University of Arkansas, I invite you to call me at 512.252.0405 or send an e-mail to bas@razorbackroad.com. This call to action will help make a difference.
