Getting into the Halloween spirit, the Arkansas Alumni Association will help sponsor the 2013 “Trick or Suite” event at the Embassy Suites hotel in Rogers on Oct. 24 from 5 – 8 p.m. Under the banner of “Helping Like a Hog;” the association’s service-oriented program that brings alumni together to connect and serve the University of Arkansas family, Trick or Suite is a free, indoor trick-or-treat event for special needs children that benefits the Northwest Arkansas Women’s Shelter and the Children’s Advocacy Center of Benton County.
This is the second year for “Trick or Suite,” which is presented by Embassy Suites Northwest Arkansas Hotel, Spa and Convention Center.
“My hope is that, through this event, we can once again showcase the Alumni Association’s positive impact on the local community through the ‘Helping like a Hog’ program,” Heath Bowman said, associate director of regional programs.
Establishing “Haunted Hogs” as its theme, children can expect to see plenty of Razorback spirit at the Alumni Association’s sponsored suite. Staff will be on site to show their Razorback pride and hand out candy to children. While the children receive candy, play games and enjoy arts and crafts, parents who visit the association’s suite will be given the opportunity to meet with staff to find out ways to get involved with the Northwest Arkansas Regional Network.
The event is open to families of children with physical and mental challenges, and promises to provide a family-friendly atmosphere with face painting and tattoos; a caricature artist; music and games; as well as snacks and ice cream.
