Prayers for the Matheney Family
The Black Alumni Society would like to extend our sincere condolences to the late Bishop Matheney family. Bishop Matheney’s homecoming celebration was held on August 3, 2011 in Crossett, Arkansas. Survivors include a loving wife of fifty-five years, Mrs. Verleen Danzy Matheney; six sons, Supt. Roy (Dana) Matheney, Elder Ricky (Lisa) Matheney, and Mr. Ralph Matheney, all of Crossett, AR; Elder Ronald (Helen) Matheney, of Camden, AR, Elder Rodney Matheney of Conway, AR, and Dr. Robert “Dennis” (Beverly) Matheney of New Orleans, LA; two sisters; Missionary Yvonne Rucker, Missionary Lois (Robert) Cole, both Los Angeles, CA; three brothers; Mr. Eddie Earl Matheney of Atlanta, GA; Bishop Willie Joe (Jean) Matheney of New Port Richey, FL; and Mr. Marvin Matheney of Sacramento, CA; twenty grandchildren; LaTonya, Toya, Tiffany, Stephanie, Natalie, Patrice, Alicia, Myesha, Shambrhee, Candice, Chloe, Jarrod, Aaron, Gabriel, Zachary, Judah, Benjamin, Keith, David, and Daniel; two great grandchildren; Nicholas and Vaelyn; a special aunt, Mrs. Novella Lewis of Little Rock, AR; the Danzy family, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Prayers for the Thomas Family
Members of BAS would also like for our members to pray for Alfred Thomas’ family. Mr. Thomas,’78 BSBA, ’85 MS left this earth on September 1, 2011. His memories will forever be cherished by his wife of 32 years, Carolyn Thomas; son, Alfred Thomas, Jr. (A.J.) and daughter, Amber Thomas, all of Little Rock, AR; his mother, Mrs. Ardelia Ivory Thomas of Pine Bluff, AR; two brothers, Jimmie (Rhonda) Thomas, Sr. of Aurora, IL; Calvin (Margaret) Thomas of Pine Bluff, AR; three sisters, Wanda Thomas ’81 COEHP, Helen (Robert) McLemore of Pine Bluff, AR; and Gail (Avery) Edwards of Columbus, GA; God-daughter, Jade Bell of Little Rock, AR; eight aunts, six uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
