Kennedy Mahone is a senior Career and Technical Education major focusing on Family and Consumer Science. She received the Phoebe Todd Harris & Anne Harris LaRew Alumni Scholarship for the 2023-2024 school year.

Mahone was born and raised in Fayetteville and has always envisioned herself as a Razorback. She grew up attending athletic events, introducing her to the atmosphere at the University of Arkansas, which she fell in love with at a young age. Over the course of her college career, Mahone has demonstrated exemplary leadership, guided by serving her peers. She anticipates further personal and professional development throughout her senior year through the opportunities available at the U of A.

Mahone has served on the University of Arkansas Panhellenic Executive Board as Vice President, exposing her to several different groups of people and prompting her to lead outreach in the Fayetteville community. She hopes to continue to show U of A students that they are important and belong at the university. Receiving an Alumni Scholarship has pushed her to continue excelling and impacting as many people as she can before graduating.

When accepting her scholarship, Mahone said, “I want to sincerely thank you for your generous gift in my last year of school! This will allow me the extra push to pursue my dreams of finally being the first one in my family to graduate from college. It means so much to me that you saw potential in me and thought that I was worth investing in! Thank you again!”

Since accepting her Alumni Scholarship, Mahone has had the opportunity to pursue a college degree aligned with her passion. During this academic year, Mahone has actively engaged in gaining practical, hands-on experience in the field of education through teaching in a classroom setting. Looking into the future, Mahone plans to stay in Northwest Arkansas post-graduation, aspiring to contribute to the development and growth of young students.
