razorback_students_classThe Arkansas Alumni Association is ensuring more University of Arkansas students receive scholarship money through a new need-based scholarship fund.

The fund was endowed with a generous contribution from Ginger Graham, CEO and president of Amylin Pharmaceuticals, who serves on the Alumni Association’s National Board of Directors. Upon learning about the need-based scholarship fund, she quickly responded with the gift to encourage others to join and donate to the program.

Most of the scholarship money, however, is raised through Association memberships. With each annual “Pride” membership renewal, $5 goes toward the need-based scholarship fund. From the newly created three-year “Passion” memberships, $15 is put toward need-based scholarships. It’s just one more reason your membership in the Arkansas Alumni Association is so important.

Update (July 26, 2011)

Thanks to our strong membership base, the Alumni Association is awarding $75,000 in Membership Scholarships to 33 students for the 2011-12 academic year.  Since the Membership Scholarship program began in 2009, the Association has awarded 76 scholarships totaling $172,000!

Help us continue to grow the number of scholarships and make a college education possible for more students.
