Leora Jackson holds a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from the University of Arkansas. She is a single mom who enjoys mentoring youth and advocating for children with disabilities. Her own child has a hearing disability which involves her in deaf and hard of hearing organizations locally and nationally. Jackson is the editor of the bi-monthly email newsletter called YDHAT (Young Deaf & Hard of Hearing Awareness Team) News. She has also written for Memphis Single Moms Examiner, Umoja Soul of NWA, and she has published one book titled “Candy Apple: A Diverse Collection of Poems” under her pen name F.L. Jones. Her second book “Cotton Candy: Sweet Poems for the Entire Soul” is due this fall.
