Dear Black Alumni Society Scholarship Committee,

I would like to personally thank you for awarding me the Black Alumni Society Endowment Scholarship for the amount of $2,600. Thanks to your generosity, I will be able to expand my educational horizons and work toward my goal of becoming a clinical psychiatrist. It has been very hard for me to accumulate enough money to attend school and now because of you, I am one step closer to having all the money I need to follow my dream of furthering my education.

My name is Ariel Bass. I am 17 years old and a recent graduate from Arkadelphia High School. My hobbies include dancing, singing, knitting and reading. My last four years of high school have been very challenging, but also memorable. I took part in various activities including The Future Business Leaders of America, the Black History Month Committee, Beta Club and The AHS Dazzler Dance Team for which I was captain. Aside from my extracurricular activities, I also took mostly advanced placement classes that I worked hard to keep at least a B average in. During my junior year, I started researching different colleges for me to attend and the first one that came to mind was the University of Arkansas. After some extra research and my tour, I knew that U of A was the place for me. The main deciding factor was the location; it isn’t too close or too far away from home, plus, I really loved the atmosphere and felt it was a great place for me to learn new things and network.

While attending U of A, I plan to major in psychology/ pre-med and hopefully join many different clubs such as quidditch and dodge ball, and maybe even participate in some government offices for campus. I would really like to make lots of friends that I hope to carry with me for life and make other great connections that could potentially aid me in my career later in life.

Again, I would like to thank you so much for awarding me this scholarship; it was greatly needed and will most definitely aid me in my education for the next four years.

Sincerely,
Ariel Bass
