Amber Bynum B.A.’08 joined the Arkansas Alumni Association National Board of Directors in July 2024 and serves on the board’s public relations committee and member relations committee.
Bynum began her career as a pharmacist with Walmart in 2012. After two years, she took a role as a pharmacy clinical services manager, then steadily rose through the organization, holding several key leadership roles in Walmart’s health division. During this time, Bynum received the Walmart Health and Excellence in Patient Care award and was named the Walmart Health and Wellness Pharmacy Clinical Services Manager of the Year.
In 2018, Bynum moved to Bentonville to serve as regional director of health and wellness operations, followed by senior director II for Walmart operations and strategy. Bynum is currently vice president of consumables in health and wellness sourcing for Walmart.

She is a dynamic leader who has thrived at the Walmart Corporate office,” said Brandy Cox Jackson M.A.’07, Ph.D’23, associate vice chancellor and executive director of the Arkansas Alumni Association. “Her lifelong love of the Razorbacks alongside her experiences as a student provide a great perspective on the board. As an Arkansas native and U of A alumna, Amber also understands a great deal about our entire state.”
Bynum has served as an executive board member for Baptist Health Systems and as a volunteer with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, and the Good Samaritan Pantry. She is the founder of Walmart’s women in health and wellness mentor circle, and she serves on the board of directors for HealthyWomen. In 2020, Bynum was recognized by Fortune Magazine as a “40 under 40” in healthcare.
Bynum is a Carlisle native and lives in Bentonville with her husband Martin and their three children. She enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, particularly mountain biking on the Northwest Arkansas trails.
Bynum holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with honors from the U of A and a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Bynum is a life member of the Arkansas Alumni Association.
