career_networking_handshake_240Our opportunity to learn takes place throughout life and is no longer relegated to a particular time or place. The Arkansas Alumni Association’s Lifelong Learning program offers our members and friends a variety of ways to pursue educational opportunities across the life span for both professional and personal enrichment.

As a part of Outreach and Engagement, Lifelong Learning is comprised of a variety of programs and services. Among them are Career Hogs, our alumni career network, offering professional enrichment with enhanced career services and Razorbacks on Tour, providing alumni educational travel opportunities within the United States and across the globe!

Career Hogs presents various programs throughout the year including professional development and educational workshops, collaborative networking events and an array of virtual, electronic and social media resources for alumni job seekers and employers. Online resources include Razorback Career Link, a database where alumni job seekers can build profiles, upload resumes, review and apply for positions. Employers registered on RCL post available positions and schedule interviews with qualified candidates. For virtual mentoring, jobshadow.com/universityofarkansas displays profiles of alumni who describe their work, the various paths taken to reach their goal and how their degree from the UA helped shape their success. Current online networking resources include Linked In, Twitter and Facebook and new components include a Linked In mentoring page and webinars presented by nationally renowned career experts. Look for links to all of these resources at www.arkansasalumni.org/career.

Quarterly programs are being developed to provide access to alumni, faculty, employers and other leaders in various sectors of industry, government, business and non-profit organizations. We invite you to share your professional expertise! Consider leading a workshop, speaking at an event, sharing your professional story on jobshadow.com or offering your time as a mentor. You will provide invaluable support to our alumni seeking employment or that next step up and gain a great opportunity to hire a Hog!

Travel with us as we explore the world with Razorbacks on Tour! For almost 30 years, Association staff and our professional travel partners have organized programs that allow our members, alumni and friends to expand their cultural and intellectual horizons while forging and strengthening lifelong friendships. Twenty-one programs are offered for 2014, including an exclusive, small yacht tour of the Galapagos led by a UA faculty member and plans for the 2015 slate of tours is underway.
