The Alumni Association partnered with the Enhanced Learning Center to offer academic workshops for new Legacy Scholarship recipients on Oct. 13-15 at the Janelle Y. Hembree Alumni House. Legacy Scholars receive a waiver of non-resident tuition and must maintain a 2.75 GPA for renewal each year. The Alumni Association recognizes that the key to retaining the Legacy Scholarship is establishing a strong GPA the first semester.
The Arkansas Alumni Association scholarship application for 2010 entering freshmen is now available. Each year the Association receives hundreds of applications from outstanding students nationwide and makes awards to over 60 exceptional freshmen each year. Do you know a high school senior who is a stand out? Encourage them to apply for our scholarships. Deadline to apply is February 1, 2010.
The Black Alumni Society Board has selected Reggie and Willie Murdock and Emanuel Banks as the Endowed Board Scholarship Chairs. The Murdocks and Banks will be in charge of selecting a committee to work with them on fundraising efforts for the BAS Endowed Scholarship.
Official Razorback license plates are now appearing on vehicles all across the state of Missouri. These new plates display Razorback pride on your ride while helping students pay for college. Send us a photo of your tag to share with other Arkansas alumni.
What began as a small scholarship program awarding nine scholarships worth $6,200 in 1990 has grown to a program that annually awards scholarships to more than 200 University of Arkansas students. The Alumni Association will recognize 209 students this year with funds totaling more than $343,000 – a 20 percent increase from last year.
Dr. G. David Gearhart has donated $25,000 to the Black Alumni Society Scholarship program. The gift is to focus on diversity, recruitment and retention at the University of Arkansas.

Kentrell Edwin Curry, the son of Kenneth and Machella Curry, has been selected as the 2009 Black Alumni Society Endowed Scholar. He is a graduate of West Memphis High School. Curry was a member of the West Memphis High School Marching Band, Jazz Band, Symphonic Winds, Mu Alpha Theta, Student Council and the 30 Club.

The Alumni Association has agreed to partner with the Arkansas Music Pavilion at the Northwest Arkansas Mall in a fund-raising competition among local charities.
The wait is over! Razorbacks will soon appear on license plates in Missouri. The Arkansas Alumni Association has finished collecting the 200 required initial applications for the plates, and the Missouri Department of Transportation has started production. Anyone with a vehicle registered in Missouri can buy a Razorback License Plate, including those who are not University of Arkansas alumni.
