Grateful to be recognized for her hard work, Amy McLarty has been chosen to receive a $2,500 “Roads” Scholarship by the Arkansas Alumni Association, for the 2011-2012 school year. Challenging herself through AP courses and college math classes in high school, McLarty, a Rogers native, maintained a balance between schoolwork, a part-time job and involvement in student council.
Karem Sonora, of Rogers, has been chosen by the Northwest Arkansas Chapter of the Arkansas Alumni Association to receive a $1,000 scholarship for the 2011-2012 school year. Graduating in 2009 from Rogers High School, she had a few things in mind when choosing which college to attend.
Meghan Townsend, of Rogers, has received the 2011 Membership Scholarship from the Arkansas Alumni Association. Growing up in the area, Townsend has always appreciated what Northwest Arkansas has to offer. Whether it be kayaking, hiking, or just enjoying the outdoors, Townsend has always had a soft spot for the area and the University of Arkansas.
As an avid reader, Austin Conley, plans to use the “Roads” Scholarship, awarded to him by the Arkansas Alumni Association, toward his tuition and books this coming fall. Graduating from Rogers High School, Conley enjoyed his English classes, which gave him a deeper appreciation for literature and the classics.
The Arkansas Alumni Association has awarded Jared Gilstrap as a recipient of the “Roads” Scholarship, beginning in the fall 2010 semester. A graduate of Rogers High School, Gilstrap has only lived in Northwest Arkansas for the past three years. In high school, he was involved in both basketball and golf and continued to carry a high grade point average, which he considers to be a great achievement.
Despite the snow storm that blanketed Northwest Arkansas over this past weekend, the Arkansas Alumni Association stayed on track with the launching of the second Pride of Arkansas Tour on Monday, February 1. The first two events were held simultaneously at the Arkansas World Trade Center in Rogers and Villa Montez in Tyler, Texas.
