colbert_john-lGreetings Members and Friends of BAS,

The Black Alumni Society extends a warm welcome to you. We would like to take the time to say “thank you” for your continuous support to the Society. Your support has been in the form of “words of encouragement,” financial gift/gifts or volunteering your time. So many times we get so busy and don’t say the simple words “thank you.” We want you to know we never take your services for granted and appreciate everything you do on behalf of BAS.

As we prepare for the upcoming reunion please think of those individuals we can recognize and say “thank you” at our upcoming BAS Awards Gala. Our August 2014 BAS e-Zine will have an online nomination form for the following categories:

Citation of Distinguished Alumni: Those who have exceeded in professional and personal achievements, based on a certain field.

Honorary Alumni: Non graduates of the University of Arkansas who have promoted and participated in ways similar to those of a university graduate. Young Alumni Award

Young Alumni: Recognizes young alumni who have excelled in professions, volunteerism and public service. Community Service Award

Alumni Service: Recognizes those who have contributed a significant amount of time on behalf of the Arkansas Alumni Association.

Community Service: Recognizes alumni who have dedicated extensive amounts of time to helping in their community

Dr. Lonnie Williams Lifetime Achievement Award: Recognizes an alumna/alumnus who have made significant lifetime achievements in their personal, professional and community services.

Wyatt Weems Memorial Award: Recognizes individuals who are not a graduate of the University who have contributed a significant amount of time, and/or developed positions with BAS to promote the purpose and mission of the Society.

We encourage everyone to please submit recipients so we can publicly say “thank you” on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Fayetteville Town Center. Thank you in advance for taking the time out of your busy schedule to reflect upon who you would like to nominate. Have a great day.

“Honoring the Past, While Building the Future!”
