Nikki Munro, of Hot Springs, has been awarded the 2011 Garland County Chapter Scholarship for the 2011-2012 school year. Attending Lakeside High School, Munro spent much of her time taking AP courses, being a member of Beta Club, FCA, student council, National Honors Society, and participating in cheer and soccer. Apart from her school involvement, she volunteered her time at a local hospital, food drive, and at the Jackson House.

Knowing family and friends who have attended or are currently attending the University of Arkansas, she learned much about its campus and Northwest Arkansas. When she decided to apply, she realized that all of the requirements she had set would be met as a student at the university.

“It is with much gratitude and appreciation that I accept the Garland County Chapter Scholarship. I feel very honored to be awarded such an amazing scholarship,” she said.

When she begins school in the fall, Munro has plans to enroll in the College of Education and Health Professions and major in physical therapy. Knowing that the university will allow her to reach her goals and obtain opportunities that will help her succeed, she looks forward to getting involved and becoming a part of the Arkansas family.

“Thank you all so much for your recognition and gift. I can’t wait to be calling those hogs next year! Woo Pig Sooie!”
