Kathryn Stonesifer Receives 2011 Northwest Arkansas Chapter Scholarship
The Northwest Arkansas Chapter of the Arkansas Alumni Association has chosen to award Kathryn Stonesifer with a $1,000 scholarship for the 2011-2012 school year. Attending high school in West Fork, she is the first in her family to go to college. Opting to attend the University of Arkansas, she is grateful for the experiences she had as a high school student and now as a college student, saying, “Because of these experiences, I am interested making a positive difference in the lives of others. The University of Arkansas provides a multitude of opportunities for me to expand on this interest.”
Loving many of the different aspects of the university, she appreciates that there is always someone on campus that can help a struggling student, “whether it is academics or personal matters,” she said. During her time on campus, she has realized just how much she has learned about the people around her, as well as herself.
“I would like to personally thank you for the generous scholarship donation. I am honored to be a recipient of the $1,000 Northwest Arkansas Chapter Scholarship and very appreciative for the financial assistance. This award will decrease the financial burden of a college education and will allow me to continue my undergraduate coursework as planned. Your thoughtful contribution will support my academic aspirations.”
As a student in the College of Education and Health Professions, she is pursuing a bachelor of science in education with a childhood education major. After obtaining her bachelor’s degree, she intends to achieve a master of arts in teaching degree so that she may become licensed and teach pre-school through fourth grade.
“Thank you again for your generous sponsorship of the Northwest Arkansas Alumni Chapter Scholarship. Being a recipient of this scholarship will ease my financial burden during the 2011-2012 academic year. Your donation will help me achieve the goals I have set for myself at the University of Arkansas.”
