The Dallas Chapter has chosen Joseph King as a recipient of this year’s $1,000 scholarship. Highly involved at South Grand Prairie High School, King understands the meaning of hard work and dedication. As a student, he participated in marching band, UIL math and science team, Robotics club, Mu Alpha Theta, and National Honors Society.

Deciding that the University of Arkansas would provide him with the necessary tools to succeed, he admits that when choosing which college he would attend, the university displayed many positive attributes. “I chose the University of Arkansas because of its strong academics, and with a smaller student/teacher ratio, I know I will receive more classroom attention,” he said.

“Thank you for the Arkansas Alumni Dallas Chapter Scholarship for $1000. As I begin to look at the cost of college, I know that every dollar is important.  This scholarship will definitely help me next year as I begin my freshman year at the University of Arkansas,” he said in his thank you letter.

Unsure of which intramural sports and on-campus organizations he wants to join, King is certain of one thing. When school begins in the fall, he will be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering and looks forward to the multitude of opportunities provided to engineering students.
