Jordan Sooter’s education at the University of Arkansas has given her the opportunity to turn her passion for business into a reality. After completing her bachelor’s degree and then a Master of Accountancy in May 2016, she plans to immediately sit for the Certified Public Accountant exam, and then begin her career in financial advisory services.

Jordan also has a passion for mentoring young students, which was developed through her experience as a mentor with the Volunteer Action Committee Literary Program and as an Honors College peer mentor. She says she made the most impact as the president of the Sam M. Walton College Finance Association. Soon after she was appointed to this position, at the end of her junior year, she created detailed officer roles, and a formal application and interview process. This allowed her to build a leadership team that will continue beyond her term in leadership.

Together they implemented a Finance Development Program that includes a student-to-student mentor program and more than eight different Industry Insight Groups that focus on increasing student knowledge of all possible career fields within finance. In the fall semester they had hosted more than 15 events including member meetings, networking and recruiting events, and guest speakers. Student membership almost doubled to more than 160 members last semester.
