Instilled in her from a young age, Jessica Bettis, of Malvern, AR, understands the meaning of dedication and hard work. Striving to excel academically, she enrolled in every AP and honors course available at her high school. Personally, she took on leadership roles as president of Student Council and Beta Club, co-captain of her school’s varsity cheer squad and secretary of the senior class.

“I am deeply grateful to receive the “Roads” scholarship for $4,000 per year. Receiving this scholarship was an answer to prayers, and words cannot express how thankful I am to the Arkansas Alumni Association.  My dream of attending the University of Arkansas will become a reality because of this generous gift,” she said.

Choosing to attend the University of Arkansas because of its reputation in higher education, Bettis is looking forward to preparing herself for a future career in medicine. “My intended majors of biochemistry and Spanish will help me accomplish my aspiration of becoming a doctor and using the Spanish language to help others in third world countries,” she admits. Aside from her academic intentions, she also plans to become a member of the Baptist Collegiate Ministry.
