Jackson Eldridge has been chosen by the Arkansas Alumni Association to receive the 2011 “Roads” Scholarship. Attending Springdale High School, Eldridge devoted much of his time to studying and participating in school organizations. While a student in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, he also took part in National Honors Society, National Spanish Honor Society and Technology Honor Society.

His decision to attend the University of Arkansas was due to the highly recognized Sam M. Walton College of Business, as well as the opportunities that may present themselves with various businesses within the area, such as Wal-Mart, J.B. Hunt and Tyson.

“I would like to begin by thanking you for all of your generous donations to the University of Arkansas Alumni Foundation. Due to your utmost generosity, I have been awarded the ‘Roads’ Scholarship, a scholarship that will provide me with $2,500 each year I attend the U of A. This scholarship will provide me with financial assistance that will allow me to obtain a high quality education. Also, this scholarship will reduce the financial burden that has been put on my family due to recent medical bills,” he said.

Planning to major in finance and minor in Spanish, Eldridge hopes that through his involvement with the Walton College, it will allow him to participate in Leadership Walton and Students in Free Enterprise. Aside from academic study and organizations, he plans to participate in intramural sports. While setting goals for the four years he will spend on campus, Eldridge has already made plans to pursue a law degree after completing his bachelor’s.

“Again, I greatly appreciate your generosity in donating to the University of Arkansas Alumni Foundation. Thanks to this scholarship, I will be able to obtain a degree from one of the top universities in the nation, and not have to worry about having a financial burden once I graduate.”
