In connection with the Arkansas Alumni Association's volunteer engagement program, the Association is pleased to announce the creation of "Helpin' Like a Hog." Only a few weeks into the planning process, staff members have come together to create a program that will help to engage alumni who express an interest in community service.

Since its founding in 1878, the Arkansas Alumni Association has stayed true to its mission—"to connect and serve the University of Arkansas family." As new alumni form each year, it is the goal of the Association to maintain contact with those who wish to remain close to the university and show their support through donations, volunteerism, membership and chapter involvement.

The Arkansas Alumni Association proudly announces its 2010 award recipients, all of whom personify the University of Arkansas' tradition of excellence through service and leadership. All 10 honorees were recognized during the 66th annual Alumni Awards Celebration on Oct. 29 at the Janelle Y. Hembree Alumni House.

2010 Distinguished Alumni and Faculty Award Recipients Announced


Although it's one of the smaller chapters, the Maryland Chapter accomplished some big goals in 2008. For their hard work, the chapter was presented the 2009 Board Cup during the Arkansas Alumni Association's Volunteer Summit on the University of Arkansas campus on Sept. 18-19. The Board Cup was created in 1997 to recognize excellence in programming and engagement within chapter areas for a calendar year.

This year the 2009 Volunteer Summit: Racing to Win started well before the pace car took to the track. With an early start, exciting and thunder-packed meetings and opportunities for volunteers representing Young Alumni Board, chapters, societies, Student Alumni Board and the national board of directors from all around the United States, it was truly a sight to see.
