Since its founding in 1878, the Arkansas Alumni Association has stayed true to its mission—”to connect and serve the University of Arkansas family.” As new alumni form each year, it is the goal of the Association to maintain contact with those who wish to remain close to the university and show their support through donations, volunteerism, membership and chapter involvement.
Cox suspects that Haiti, one of the poorest and least developed countries in the world, does not have or does not enforce seismic building codes to mitigate the effects of large earthquakes. The recent earthquake – which measured 7.0 magnitude and whose epicenter was only 10 miles west of Port-au-Prince, the nation’s densely populated capital – caused massive destruction and killed thousands of Haitians. An estimated 150,000 people have died as a result of the earthquake.

Entering the University of Arkansas in 2003, it was the College of Engineering’s remarkable reputation that caught Marcus Hopkins’ eye in deciding where he wanted to go to school. He knew he could get a degree in civil engineering that would be well-respected by future employers, and it was through this degree choice that he began to get involved.
