As we approach the month of November, a time where we intentionally reflect things that we are thankful for, I want to say that we are thankful for YOU.  We want to thank you for your engagement on campus, especially with our scholars.  This month, we had an alumna and board member return to campus and make a huge investment in our scholars.  Ebony Wyatt organized a fantastic workshop specifically for our scholars to prepare them for the workforce.  Not only did she present, but she worked with each of them to develop their own elevator speech, proper interviewing techniques, and various components of their personal brand.  Ebony also, in conjunction with General Mills, conducted employment interviews of students on campus.  Ebony, thank you for commitment to students and excellence.

As a continuation of our commitment to students, we will release a special newsletter launching our membership drive.  As you might have read last month, there is a competition attached to the membership drive.  Oh what a competition it is and the prizes….  Well, let’s just say that they are over and beyond the benefits of being a member.  So, stay tuned for the special newsletter!  When it launches, we want you to ENGAGE and get your friends, family, and fellow alum on board with membership and ENGAGEMENT.

Have you registered for the upcoming tailgate?  If not, please use the link below and register to attend.  BAS has partnered with other Societies to host a tailgate prior to the November 21st game against Mississippi State and we would love for you to be our guest.  Remember, the first 25 people to sign are FREE!  So, let’s continue to show our Razorback pride at the tailgate and game.

Speaking of Razorback pride, we want to congratulate Dr. Trenia Miles and Dr. Bobby Jones.  Dr. Miles was recently named the Deputy Chief Director of Adult Education in the state of Arkansas.  Dr. Miles, we salute you for your hard work and look forward to future accomplishments in education.   We are very proud of you and all that you have accomplished!  See the attached link here.

Dr. Jones, a former BAS president, recently received the Spirit of Excellence in Business Award for his prior and current service with the Department of Veterans Affairs.   What a well-deserved award for Dr. Jones.  We are certainly excited for him and appreciative for what he does in the community, including our alumni community.  See the attached link here.

Our alumni spotlight this month is Brenda White who wears multiple hats.  Please take a moment to learn more about Ms. White and visit her website if you would like to purchase her books.
