As activities for Homecoming 2012 grow closer, the Homecoming Planning Committee encourages those participating in various events that it is all about helping others and giving back.

Marked as a philanthropy and awareness race, Airic Hughes, assistant director with the Arkansas Alumni Association, says, “The Committee opted to reintroduce the 5Kans Razorback 5K into the Homecoming celebration to generate support for the Full Circle On Campus Food Pantry.”

The Full Circle Food Pantry will provide a list of items needed for those looking to donate. Those who wish to participate must donate five can goods. The drop off location will be the Janelle Y. Hembree Alumni House, 491 N. Razorback Rd., Fayetteville, AR. Donations will be accepted Wednesday, Oct. 24th – Wednesday, Oct. 31st between the hours of 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

As a reminder to those participating, Hughes states, “All participants must register online by Oct. 24th through uark.athleague.com, where they can quickly create an account if needed, and register to participate.”

Contestants are also required to fill out a registration waiver, which must be turned in to the Janelle Y. Hembree Alumni House by Friday, Oct. 5th. The race will be held on Thursday, Nov. 1st at 5 p.m. at the Agriculture Farm/Cross Country track. Upon check-in, contestants will receive the official 5Kans Razorback 5K Race t-shirt. Contestants are required to check in between 4 – 4:30 p.m. and students must present his/her university student ID.
